admonishment i

Take what thou wilt from out my heart — I’ll give to thee freely of all that I have as long as I hear thy cry. But each favour you ask, I would thou knew, hardens this heart a bit to thee, and dulls this listening ear. Be wise, my love, take such as I give, and ask not where asking may run awry. I’ll give to thee freely all that thou ask’st, but with every asking, my heart is more stone.  *
